IN THE NEWS - More Important to Be There for Your Partner When There Is Good News or Bad News?
It turn out that the way we react to our partner's GOOD news is what bonds the relationship! So when your partner comes home with good news - no matter how big or small - display excitement and happiness! After all it means a lot to that person to be sharing it!
Don't do what I did once which was to greet my husband's excitement about getting his new PALM TREO 700 after almost a year of drooling for it with "Are you sure you can switch the cell phone number over?" and then proceed to argue with him on why he could not.
Here is the article in NY Times called "For Couples, Reaction to Good News Matters More Than Reaction to Bad":

Excited about a Palm? Men and their gadgets!
I like your blog. It has the info that I did not see in the papers until you post them. Good stuff!
I agree with this article. Nothing is disapointing as when your husband does not get excited about your good news. It is a big let down.
I printed this out and give it to my hubby. Hopefully he gets the hint. He is never excited about what anything!
I came home very excited that I got a promotion at work. My husband started to ask me how much more I would be getting paid then he said the promotion was not worth it cause the raise was so little. Then he started to talk about how companies now get away with small raise but more responsibilities and how that it was not fair. He went on and on. Said no congratulations to me, no hey way to go. Nothing. I was so angry. I still resent him for it and it was few years ago. Every time I think about it, I am still fuming.
So true
I think these are good questions to ask even if you have been married for a while - you never know.
